About me |
My name is Alexandra (Alexi) Leon Harootunian, and I am the Spanish 1 and 3 teacher at Animas High School. I was born in the coastal city of Lima, Peru. Food, music and dance are a big part of Peruvian culture and influence who I am today. I received my BA in Communications and Advertising from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). As I was finishing my undergrad program I had the great opportunity to travel the world and gain a wider cultural and language experience and eventually moved to Colorado. Finding my love for sharing culture and language, I went back to school to get my Master of Arts in Education, with a focus in Spanish at Fort Lewis College. In addition to sharing my love for teaching language and sharing culture, I really enjoy touring with my band, the Mojo Birds, in addition to hiking, making sushi and Peruvian food, Latin and hip hop dancing, and rollerblading.

My goal as a Spanish teacherVision:
I am an educator because I believe that in this way I can have a positive impact on humanity, helping to bring real human beings into the world with skills to make a positive change, where they can be authentic and caring human beings. Through language and culture, including dance and cooking, I hope to share and pass on the love of creating deep connections and having unique cultural experiences that can only happen this way. |
